Your locum admin, sorted.

Sound familiar?

Locuming comes with a second, unpaid job.

The dispensing is the easy part. It's everything around it that eats your evenings and days off.

Bookings in six different places

Agency emails, Locate a Locum, a text from a store manager, a paper diary. One slip and you've double-booked a Saturday.

Invoices nobody pays on time

Independents that take 60 days, and invoices you forgot to send in the first place. Chasing them is awkward, so it doesn't happen.

The January tax surprise

No idea how much to put aside until your Self Assessment says otherwise, plus a payment on account you didn't see coming.

Miles you never claim

That 40-minute drive to cover a branch adds up over a year. Without a log, it's money left with the taxman.

Renewals that sneak up on you

GPhC renewal, revalidation records, indemnity cover, DBS. All on different dates, all your problem when you're self-employed.

Walking in cold, every time

Where do you park? Which door? What was the quirk with their PMR last time? You worked it out once, then forgot.

Locumoid takes the second job off your hands.

Schedule

Your whole diary, finally in one place.

See every booked shift and what it pays at a glance, and spot the gaps before someone else fills them.

  • Sync with your calendar. Connect Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, or subscribe to a feed. Bookings from Locate a Locum come across too.
  • Drag to reschedule. A pharmacy moves your shift? Drop it on the new date.
  • Block out time off. Mark holidays and days off so you never accept a shift you can't do.
  • Peak dates flagged. Bank holidays for your nation, Christmas and Easter, Diwali, Eid and more, with a nudge to pick up a well-paid shift.

Adding shifts

Book it in before you hang up.

Logging a shift takes a few taps, and Locumoid fills in what it already knows.

  • Every pharmacy, built in. Search every GPhC-registered pharmacy by name or postcode. Missing one? Add it yourself.
  • Opening hours filled in. Pick the pharmacy and the start and finish times are set for that day.
  • Hourly or day rate. Plus unpaid lunch breaks, so your figures match what lands in your account.
  • Know if the rate is fair. See how an offer compares with what other locums are paid in the area, before you say yes.

On the day

Turn up like a regular, even on day one.

Your dashboard shows today's shift with everything you need to get there and get going.

  • Directions and drive time. From home, or straight from your morning shift when you're doing a split day.
  • Your own notes on every pharmacy. Parking, the side door, the fridge that beeps. They're waiting for you next time.
  • Mileage logged automatically. Worked out from the actual route, at the rate you agreed.
  • Expenses on the shift. Parking, train fares, a hotel for a far-flung cover. Added to the shift and the invoice.
  • Rate the shift afterwards. Build a private record of where you'd happily go back.

Invoicing

Get paid, without the awkward chasing.

When a shift ends, its invoice is ready. You always know who owes you, how much, and for how long.

Created for you

Every finished shift becomes a draft invoice with hours, rate, mileage and expenses on it.

Check, edit, send

Tweak anything, then email a professional PDF with your bank details straight to the pharmacy.

Drag to track

Move invoices from sent to paid as the money arrives. Your dashboard always shows what's outstanding.

Knows the chains

Shifts at multiples that pay you through their own system are recognised, so you're not invoicing twice.

Earnings and tax

Know your tax bill before HMRC does.

A running estimate of your Income Tax and National Insurance for the tax year, updated with every shift you book.

  • Know what to set aside. See your projected bill for 6 April to 5 April, so it's in the savings account, not a surprise.
  • Allowable expenses counted. GPhC fees, indemnity, DBS, and HMRC's 45p a mile on travel the pharmacy didn't pay for. Edit them for each tax year.
  • Self Assessment figures, ready. Totals for earnings, expenses and mileage, laid out the way the form asks for them.
  • Reports for your accountant. Export any tax year as a PDF.
  • See which shifts are worth it. Your effective rate turns what you've earned at the rates you agreed into a full-time equivalent hourly rate, with trends over time.

Figures are estimates to help you plan, not tax advice.

Career

Your professional records, all in one place.

As a locum, nobody else keeps your paperwork on file. Locumoid is a tidy place to keep it yourself, ready whenever an agency or pharmacy asks.

  • GPhC registration and revalidation. Note your registration details and renewal date, see the fee, and tick off your CPD records, peer discussion and reflective account as you write them.
  • Indemnity and background checks. Keep your insurance policy and your DBS, PVG or AccessNI certificate details together, including whether you're on the Update Service.
  • Costs of trade. Everything you pay to practise, totalled for the year, and how many hours of work it takes to cover.
  • A CV that writes itself. Built from your registration, education and the pharmacies you've worked at, ready to print.
  • Where to go next. Career tracks like independent prescribing and Pharmacy First, with the steps for each.

And the little things

Thought through for the way locums actually work.

Insights on rates

Anonymised rates by region and chain, so you know what the going rate is before you negotiate.

Your pharmacy ratings

Rate each shift and see your average for every pharmacy, kept private to you. Next time they call, you'll know whether to say yes.

Your car, covered

Enter your reg and we look up the details with the DVLA. MOT and car tax due dates appear on your schedule.

Search for anything

Find any shift, invoice or pharmacy from one search box.

All four nations

Bank holidays follow where you live, you can record a PVG or AccessNI certificate as well as a DBS one, and career tracks cover each nation's Pharmacy First service.

Getting started

Up and running before your next shift.

  1. 1

    Create your account

Sign up with your email or Google account and your GPhC number.

  2. 2

    Tell us the basics

A short setup asks for your home address, car and registration details, so mileage and reminders work from day one.

  3. 3

    Add your shifts

Connect your calendar or Locate a Locum, or add shifts by hand. Locumoid handles the invoices, mileage and tax from there.

Questions, answered.

Does Locumoid find me shifts?

No, Locumoid isn't an agency and never takes a cut of your rate. It organises the shifts you book yourself, wherever they come from. It can bring in your bookings from Locate a Locum and your calendar, and it flags peak dates when it's worth looking for work.

Is the tax estimate tax advice?

No. The estimate uses current UK Income Tax bands and National Insurance rates for self-employed locums, so you know roughly what to set aside. It can't see your other income or personal circumstances, so check your Self Assessment with HMRC or an accountant.

I work in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Does it still work?

Yes. Bank holidays follow the nation you live in. You can record a PVG or AccessNI certificate as well as a DBS one, and career tracks cover each nation's Pharmacy First or clinical service.

I trade through a limited company. Is it for me?

The schedule, mileage, invoicing and career tools work however you trade. The tax estimate is designed for sole traders filing a Self Assessment, so treat it as a guide only if you pay yourself through a company.

What if I don't drive?

Mileage is optional. Add train fares, taxis or anything else as expenses on the shift instead, and they're included in your invoice and your tax estimate.

Who can see my data?

Only you. Your notes and pharmacy ratings are private to you. Rate insights only use anonymised figures combined across many locums, never your name or individual shifts.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time. Manage or cancel your subscription from your account settings. You can also delete your account and its data from there.

Spend your days off actually off.

Leave the admin to Locumoid and get back the hours you lose each week to spreadsheets, invoices and reminders.
